Summary:
A person can fit into less than an אמה, but we give extra room so his hands can be away from touching his body.

At a height of three cubits - ברום שלש אמות

Summary:
A person is taller than three אמות, yet three אמות is sufficient for the height of the מקוה, since the water rises as he enters; provided that the walls of the מקוה extend high enough that the water does not overflow.

The concern of זוגות regarding מזיקין is only by two, however for כשפים the concern is even by four (or more), except if one of them is a כוס של ברכה.
