תוס' ד"ה ואיזו

And which is the one that saves from an abnormal death; he gives it but does not know to whom he is giving it - ואיזו שמצלת ממיתה משונה נותנה ואינו יודע למי נותנה

Only the greatest מצות help the person even בעוה"ז (such as avoiding a מיתה משונה).
